Ritabrata Banerjee is the candidate for the seat vacated by the Johar government

Trinamool has fielded Ritabrata Banerjee for the Rajya Sabha by-election. The seat fell vacant after the resignation of the Jahar government from the Rajya Sabha a few days ago. This time, Trinamool has fielded Ritabrata from that seat. This announcement was made by Trinamool on its handle X. After this announcement, Abhishek Banerjee congratulated Ritabrata. He said that Ritabrata deserved this honor. Abhishek wrote, ‘Ritabrat has worked to strengthen the organization for a long time. He has fought for the workers. It may take time, but commitment and hard work always pay off.” Ritabrata Banerjee is now the state president of Trinamool’s labor organization INTTUC. Ritabrata has been a Rajya Sabha MP before. However, in previous terms, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha on behalf of the CPM. Ritabrata Banerjee, who rose through the SFI ranks, was once known as the blue-eyed boy of CPM. It is also said that he was a favorite of late former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. Later, the CPM had a bad relationship with Ritabrata. The CPM expelled the rebel Ritabrata from the party citing several allegations. Then he joined the Trinamool Congress in 2018. Since then, he has been working for the organization almost from behind the scenes. He has worked with tea workers in North Bengal for a long time. After joining the Trinamool Congress, he was made the convener of the Tribal Welfare Committee. Later, in 2021, he was made the state general secretary of INTTUC. Later, he was appointed as the president of that organization. This time, Ritabrata Banerjee is going back to the Rajya Sabha.
