FIRST FULL-FLEDGED TRIAL RUN, NOAPARA-JAI HIND BIMANBANDAR STRETCH OF YELLOW LINE TODAY By KOLKATA METRO

Another good news for all Metro commuters,
The long standing dream of reaching Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport of Kolkata in the Metro has got a major boost as the first full-fledged trial run on both UP and DN lines on Noapara- Jai Hind BimanBandar stretch 7.04-kms of Yellow Line has been conducted successfully today just before the 76th Republic Day. This trial run started from Noapara at 12 noon with Rake No. MR 408 as Metro staff, officers and curious onlookers witnessed history being made in front of them. Mr P Uday Kumar Reddy, General Manager and other senior officers and staff of Metro Railway were present during this trial run. Shri Reddy was present in the Motorman’s cab during the entire trial run. On its way to Jai Hind BimanBandar Metro station, the rake stopped at Dum Dum Cantonment station and General Manager inspected this station. The trial rake ultimately reached Jai Hind BimanBandar Metro station at 12:31 hrs. as Metro officers and the staff present there welcomed the rake with joy. Shri Reddy also inspected Jai Hind BimanBandar Metro station and senior Metro officials briefed him about the progress of installation work of different passenger amenities which will be available at the platform and concourse levels of this station. General Manager congratulated all for completion of the first trial run on this stretch.
After completing the inspection, General Manager also held a high-level meeting with the senior Metro officials at Jai Hind BimanBandar Metro station and instructed them to complete all pending works within the deadline. During the return journey, the rake started from Jai Hind Metro station at 13:57 hrs and reached Noapara Metro station at 14.21 hrs. with General Manager and other senior officers on-board. This stretch once commissioned would be a revolutionary step in providing a modern transport system to the people of Kolkata and suburbs to reach Airport.
Sailent features of the stretch between Noapara and Jai Hind BimanBandar of Yellow Line:-
Total number of stations- Four, Noapara, Dum Dum Cantonment, Jessore Road, Jai Hind BimanBandar.

Jai Hind BimanBandar is going to be one of the biggest underground Metro stations in Asia.

Jai Hind BimanBandar station will be the connecting station of Orange Line and Yellow Line.

Jai Hind BimanBandar station will have 5 platforms each of 180 metre length.
Concourse area of Jai Hind BimanBandar station 14645 sq.mtr .
There will be 6 staircases, 12 escalators and 6 lifts in between platform level and concourse level at Jai Hind BimanBandar station.

A subway ,length 330 metre and width 10.5 metre, will connect Jessore Road with Jai Hind BimanBandar station. This subway is having 2nos. of Entry-Exit which will connect the concourse unpaid area towards Barasat side, 2.5 no. Airport gate near Jessore road highway
In this subway there will be 3 escalators, 2 lifts and 2 staircases.
Another subway length 270 metre and width 13 metre will connect the Airport with Jai Hind BimanBandar. This subway is having 3nos. of Entry-Exit which will provide access to the passengers coming through NSCBI Airport Airport arrival gate no.1 and passengers from the parking area.
In this subway there will be 4 lifts, 6 escalators and 3 staircases.
There will be travellator of length 90 metre for the benefit of the commuters in this subway.
Jessore Road and Dum Dum Cantonment stations will have two platforms each of length 180 metre and all modern passengers amenities like lifts, escalators etc.
Noapara Metro station will be the passenger interchanging point in between Blue Line and Yellow Line.
Total length of this stretch from Noapara to Jai Hind BimanBandar upto underground carshed is 7.03 Kms. Out of this, 1.8 Kms length will be underground and 5.23 Kms will on the Viaduct.
