Bangabarta Bureau: After being shut down for a few hours, the video sharing app TikTok has been relaunched in the US. Trump is taking oath as president on Monday. After the assurance of US President Donald Trump, who is taking charge, this app has been launched for the 170 million TikTok users in that country. The US had already decided to ban the Chinese social media app TikTok from January 19. Accordingly, the video sharing app was shut down on Sunday. When you tried to enter the app, a text appeared in the pop-up – ‘We are sorry. TikTok is currently inactive in the US. That is, unfortunately, you cannot use TikTok now.’ But why was TikTok shut down? The US administration has accused this app, owned by ByteDance, of being a risk to national security. The reasons cited are misuse of information and espionage. According to US law, the ban on the company was supposed to take effect if it did not sell its ownership of TikTok in the United States by January 19. However, ByteDance had also indicated that a solution could be found to restore TikTok if the newly elected President Trump takes office.
