The death toll from a major landslide near Ardhkuwari on the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage route has been confirmed at 30. The unfortunate incident occurred yesterday, claiming the lives of dozens of pilgrims.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Reasi confirmed the fatalities, stating that rescue operations are ongoing to ensure no one is left stranded. The landslide, caused by adverse weather conditions, has prompted authorities to temporarily halt the yatra to the revered shrine.
The administration has urged pilgrims to stay away from the landslide-affected area and has deployed rescue teams to assist those in need. The number of casualties is feared to rise as recovery efforts continue.
