Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has appealed to the Scheduled Tribes (ST) community to be wary of individuals trying to incite them against the government regarding the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). The minister clarified that the proposed UCC will not be applied to the tribal population.
Rijiju’s statement comes amid ongoing debates about the UCC and concerns raised by various groups, including some tribal organizations, about its potential impact on their customary laws and traditions.
The minister emphasized that the constitutional protections and unique cultural identity of tribal communities would be safeguarded. He urged community members to not fall for misinformation and to instead seek accurate information directly from official sources.
