Modi Warmly Welcomes Fijian PM Sitiveni Rabuka in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, Bangobarta Bureau

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to his Fijian counterpart, Sitiveni Rabuka, at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, marking a significant high-level engagement between the two nations. The meeting is part of Prime Minister Rabuka’s three-day official visit to India.

The two leaders are expected to hold wide-ranging discussions on strengthening the bilateral partnership across various sectors, including trade, culture, and regional cooperation. The visit is Rabuka’s first to India in his current capacity as the Prime Minister of the South Pacific nation.

The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the visit underscores the “longstanding and enduring ties” between India and Fiji. The two countries share a strong cultural and people-to-people connection, rooted in a history of Indian laborers brought to Fiji under the indenture system.

The visit is anticipated to further deepen the partnership and reaffirms the commitment of both countries to enhance their relationship on multiple fronts. The leaders are also scheduled to witness the exchange of MoUs and hold a joint press conference.
