Bangobarta Bureau, MUMBAI,
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar has found himself at the center of a political storm after a video went viral on social media, in which he is purportedly seen and heard pressuring a woman IPS officer to halt action against illegal soil excavation in Solapur district.
The incident reportedly took place in Kurdu village, Solapur, where Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Anjana Krishna was leading a team to investigate complaints of illegal “murrum” soil excavation, a material used in road construction. During the operation, local NCP workers allegedly clashed with the police, and one of them, Baba Jagtap, handed his phone to the officer, connecting her to Ajit Pawar.
In the viral clip, the officer, not recognizing Pawar’s voice, is heard asking him to call her directly on her number for verification. This response reportedly incensed the Deputy Chief Minister, who is heard saying, “I will take action against you. I am myself talking to you and you are asking me to call you directly. You want to see me. Take my number and make a WhatsApp call. Do you really have that much daring?”
