Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called on the Central government to consider the potential revenue loss to states resulting from the proposed GST reforms.

Vijayan stated that while reducing tax rates on essential goods could benefit the public, the resulting shortfall would severely impact states’ ability to fund welfare programs. He urged the Central government to ensure adequate compensation to states to prevent this.

He further emphasized that opposition chief ministers should clarify whether they support or oppose the GST rate cuts, highlighting the need for a clear and unified stance on the issue
