Bengal court hands death penalty to teen for girl’s rape-murder

Even after four months, the trial of the rape and murder of a doctor in RG Kar is still pending. Meanwhile, on Friday, after 61 days, Baruipur Subdistrict Court Judge Subrata Chatterjee announced the death sentence of Mustaqin, who was convicted of raping and murdering a minor girl from Jaynagar in South 24 Parganas. The state police was investigating the case. A case was registered against the accused Mustaqin under the POCSO Act and the investigation into the incident began. The police formed a seat on October 7 and started the investigation. The charge sheet was submitted to the Baruipur court on October 30, 25 days after the incident. The trial began in the fast track court. 36 people testified in the case. Finally, after hearing the statements of all the parties and examining the evidence, the Baruipur POCSO court convicted Mustaqin on Thursday, December 5. The victim’s family members are happy that the accused was sentenced to death.
