India and Fiji Strengthen Ties with New Healthcare and Security Initiatives

In a joint press briefing with his Fijian counterpart, Sitiveni Rabuka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a significant strengthening of relations between India and Fiji, focusing on healthcare, security, and economic cooperation.

PM Modi highlighted the historical connection between the two nations, noting that his 2014 visit was the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Fiji in 33 years. “At the time, we formed Foreign For India Pacific Island Cooperation – FIPIC,” he said. “This initiative not only strengthened India-Fiji relations but also our relation with the entire Pacific region.
