Union Home Minister Amit Shah today launched the Gujarat government’s ‘Dial 112’ Emergency Response Support System (ERSS), hailing it as a key component of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for internal security. The new service will serve as a unified helpline for a range of emergency services, including police, fire, ambulance, and various helplines for women, children, and disaster management.

Addressing the gathering, Shah stated that the project is an important step towards a new-age smart policing system, eliminating the confusion of multiple toll-free numbers. He said that the ‘Dial 112’ project ensures that citizens can receive timely assistance by simply dialing one number.

The minister underscored that the project is a testament to the government’s commitment to strengthening law and order and providing security to its citizens. He further added that the integrated system, equipped with modern technology and GPS-enabled vehicles, will ensure a rapid and scientific response to any emergency situation.
